09:36 pm - Old Poem to Ma
I talked to my mother a few nights ago, who was laughing after having re-read a poem that I wrote shortly after joining the military. Thought I'd share:

I was walking down the road
And spotted a rather flattened toad
When suddenly my stomach started to growl
So I picked up the toad, and filled up my bowels
And although fulfilling, I do have to say
It's just not as tasty as early days
When we'd sit at the table and all start to eat
That hunk of dead cow, or some other meat
So upon leaving, I want you to know
When I think about frogs, I do miss you so

Sort of Poe-ish, I know. He was a big influence in my writing talents. Yeah.

11:20 pm - Bop it
I know I have a post overdue... I've been enjoying the peace. :) Will get to it soon.
In other news... just beat my high score on Bop It Extreme... 201. :D Very happy about that as my niece-in-law has recently touted her victory of 147, and I've struggled to top it for a couple of weeks. It may be petty to compete on a kid's toy with an eleven year old... but I'm quite happy to be petty at the moment.

05:08 pm - Sorry everyone
I apologize, but the comments were more than I could address with my limited number of hours in a day. I hope that I've not offended anyone by removing all comments to that post, but this is a journal, not a community. I just don't have the time to address that volume of response. Thank you to everyone involved in a civil intercourse in the matter, and I do apologize for any offense of any unanswered posts.

Thanks

01:34 am - Wow
That was... quite a response. :) For everyone that took the time to post a civil response, thank you! For everyone that was not civil, yet on my side... thank you too! For the rest of you... you're banned. With this being my third post, I don't want to change my journal friends only just yet, but will simply delete and ban anyone that I'd prefer not to have around. When I get some free time, I'll post a response to the most major view points. Terribly sorry if anyone that nicely disagreed (or agreed) was accidentally deleted in this... there were a great many posts to peruse.

Thanks!

01:08 pm - Automotive problems
I love making odd little memories. The things that stick out in your mind when you think about your life. There are several car "problems" that I look back on, and have to smile. For example, one car that I had in high school was always drawing closer to its inevitable end. Every week, like clock-work, something new would break. First, the tape player. Next the rear-windows wouldn't move up-down. Then the radio... the front windows... the brakes... etc. As everything would die... my buddy and I would say, "Well, the sunroof still works!" It became our standard saying whenever anything went wrong with the car... and moved on to be a general life saying. For example, when you get caught skipping school, your girlfriend dumps you, etc.... "The sunroof still works!" Unfortunately, the sunroof eventually gave out, and stopped working. Two weeks later, the car's head split, lost oil/pressure, and seized. While the car was a remarkable pain, there were all kinds of fun memories that came out of it... the sunroof saying... going through drive-throughs and standing up through the sunroof to get my food b/c the windows didn't work.... stuff like that. In retrospect I'd much rather have had that car than a cool/reliable one.

I say all of that b/c my current car is having transmission problems. It won't go in reverse at all, and drive is pretty fickle as well. Since I can't go in reverse, I have to park on hills and use gravity to back into spots... otherwise I'll be stuck. If I need to back up in a jam, I have to hop out of the car, and push! It's annoying, for sure.... but I'm already starting to enjoy the memories. :)

11:06 pm - Frowny Emoticon
I read today that the frowny emoticon, :-( *, is a registered trademark. While this apparently is not new news, it is new to me. The link about the intellectual property rights for cat excercising struck me as being hilarious. Yeah.... :)
